Please note that this group is now full. We hope to announce a new Reading Group soon, sign up for our mailing list to be the first to know!
Thomson Dryjanski, LATITUDE's lab coordinator, hosts the second installment of LATITUDE's biweekly reading group, Phrases of Something: Photography and the JPEG Age. Admission is rolling and all are welcome to join! To sign up, or for more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include a few sentences explaining your interest, especially if there are specific topics/works/texts you'd like to discuss.
The reading group offers a dialogue concerning contemporary problems facing artists, utilizing both canonical texts and philosophical offshoots to investigate the viewer's interaction with the photographic image. Latitude is interested in having dedicated individuals attend the group. We ask that each participant make a pledge to attend all of the meetings. Having a core group is key to making these discussions meaningful and worth everyone's time. This group will be capped at 10 people.
Past texts have included Manuel Delanda's War in the Age of Intelligent Machines, Anthony Vidler's Warped Spaces, Walter Benjamin's Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and Anthony Bimbaum's New Visual Register.
