Welcoming Simon Pyle to LATITUDE!

Please join us in welcoming a new member to the LATITUDE team, Simon Pyle, who will be taking on the role of Lab Director on March 1st!

Did you know that LATITUDE almost doubled the number of community members served between 2015 and 2016!? We are responding to our increased traffic by expanding our staff and working to continually improve the lab's offerings. Simon will be an integral part of LATITUDE's continued development; alongside our long-time Lab Assistant, turned Lab Technician, Alex Wieder.

Simon's responsibilities will include directly managing and educating our volunteer staff of Lab Assistants, overseeing the lab experience of all users and managing our service bureau production.

A San Francisco transplant, Simon Pyle is an artist and organizer with extensive volunteer-management experience at nonprofits and tech companies. He received his M.F.A. from Mills College and is on the board at Chicago’s largest volunteer-run makerspace, Pumping Station: One. Simon’s art practice considers the gaps between reality and perception in digital photographic technologies such as facial recognition, LCD screens, and jpegs.

So, if you see an enthusiastic new face around the lab next week make sure to stop and say hi!
