Sequencing for Artist Books
Sequencing for Artist Books
LATITUDE is excited to announce its first OpenEd Program for 2019!
About OpenED: LATITUDE’s mission has always included a focus on shared education. In an effort to expand our educational opportunities, LATITUDE has hosted an open call for educational programming proposals for the past two years. From this open call LATITUDE will be running several pieces of public programming proposed by emerging local artists and scholars, and developed alongside LATITUDE staff.
Sequencing for Artists Books with Alissa Godina will delve into the conceptual and technical steps of assembling an artist book. Participants will come into the course with a body of images and learn to make work prints, arrange image sequences, design layouts with Adobe software, and construct basic book forms such as perfect bound, saddle stitch, and accordion. This eight session workshop is designed to help artists turn an already produced project into a thoughtful and meaningful book layout. Students can expect to leave the class with a well defined workflow for assembling artists books as well as a polished mock-up structure for their book project.
Participants will be able to use LATITUDE’s facilities for free to print their projects through the duration of the workshop and will receive a basic bookbinding kit with the tools they will need throughout the course! Please note that paper will not be provided and participants will need to bring in a box of 8.5 x 11 Epson Luster paper by the second session (March 11th) for work prints that will be used for editing. Additional paper will be needed for production as the course progresses, and will be chosen by each individual artist with recommendations from Alissa.
This group will meet weekly on Mondays from 6-9 PM starting March 4th & ending on April 22nd
Space is limited to 10 participants so grab your spot early!
