Mindfulness and Photography
LATITUDE is excited to announce its second OpenEd Program for 2019!
About OpenED: LATITUDE’s mission has always included a focus on shared education. In an effort to expand our educational opportunities, LATITUDE has hosted an open call for educational programming proposals for the past two years. From this open call LATITUDE will be running several pieces of public programming proposed by emerging local artists and scholars, and developed alongside LATITUDE staff.
Mindfulness and Photography with Jess Benjamin will explore the connection between making pictures and being mindful of what meditation teacher Stephen Batchelor calls “the everyday sublime.” Through a series of photographic and meditative activities, participants will examine ways they can use photography as a tool to be present, and relatedly, how establishing a mindfulness practice can lead to being a more thoughtful, engaged, and dynamic photographer. This three session workshop is designed to give participants a basic understanding of mindfulness meditation, its relationship to photography, and the tools necessary to deepen the practices of both. All levels of both meditation and photography are welcome to take this course, and all participants are asked to bring their own camera.
This class will meet for three sessions on Sundays from 11am-2pm on April 28th, May 5th, and May 19th.
Space is limited to 12 participants so grab your spot early!
