LATITUDE is excited to announce our third OpenED Program for 2018!

About OpenED: LATITUDE’s mission has always included a focus on shared education. In an effort to expand our educational opportunities, LATITUDE hosted an open call for educational programming proposals in the fall of 2017. From this open call LATITUDE will be running five pieces of public programming proposed by emerging local artists and scholars, and developed alongside LATITUDE staff.

From Print to Wall with Instructor Andi Crist, will cover the technical aspects of exhibition installation and de-installation. Students will learn best practices for print handling, matting, framing, packing, and installing finished pieces of art. This two day workshop is designed to give artists the knowledge to make informed decisions when preparing their work to show in a gallery setting.

The group will meet on Sunday, May 27th and again on Sunday, June 24th from 11am - 2pm.

Participants will be asked to bring some basic tools and a “ready to hang” piece of work to use as an example for the workshop. All members will be a part of a salon style group show in the LATITUDE space for the month in between the two workshop days!

Space is limited to 15 participants so grab your spot early!

Andi Crist was raised in Birmingham, Alabama and earned her BFA from Columbia College Chicago in 2011. Crist’s practice focuses on sculpture–both social and object-based–which touch on subjects of appropriation, practicality, place-making, and the assessment of value. She founded and was the executive director of Autotelic Studios, a nonprofit arts organization that served Chicago's creative community by creating affordable studios in alternative spaces. Crist currently works as the Preparator at the Hyde Park Art Center.
