Lauren Dacy started working at LATITUDE as a Lab Assistant in January of 2017 and joined the staff in September 2017. Dacy’s work engages with the interaction of labor and production, analog and digital formats, and the various roles she interacts with and takes on in a capitalist framework. The materials she uses to make photographs are usually found disposable packaging materials. In recent works, Dacy focused on the creation of an artificial sense of depth and scale by making new constructions out of those found materials and photographing them in spaces where she works. Dacy is always thinking about her own labor and consumption, the materials that take part in that, and how her own roles as a worker, maker, and consumer reinforce each other. In addition to working at LATITUDE, Dacy is a current Publishing Fellow at StepSister Press, an independent press founded by artist Annie Heckman. StepSister Press just released Dacy’s second book design project for the press - "Perfect Worlds: Artistic Forms & Social imaginaries, Vol. 1" by Michael Workman.
