Lab Assistants

LATITUDE depends on Lab Assistants. These volunteers support LATITUDE by helping DIY lab users, maintaining the lab space and equipment, and providing administrative and production support on a day-to-day basis. Generally, Lab Assistants work one eight-hour shift per week. In return, Lab Assistants receive training on LATITUDE's equipment, access to the lab to work on their own projects, and access to a community of fellow artists, photographers, and enthusiasts.

While working on their own projects, Lab Assistant ink usage and membership costs are waived.

LATITUDE is a community space, and the Lab Assistants are a key part of that community. This opportunity for dedicated access, professional training, and the chance to work directly with our artists in residence have helped us connect with a number of amazing people over the years. Our Lab Assistants are interested in joining a community, gaining technical knowledge, and may be of any age or background. We accept applications from potential Lab Assistants on an ongoing basis!

Lab Assistants can be trained in:

  • Mural Printing

  • Printing, editing, and file management in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge

  • Piezography Printing

  • Basic Printer Maintenance

  • Scanning on Epson and Creo flatbeds

  • Drum Scanning
