Meet a Lab Assistant: Sarah Hamburger

How long have you been a Lab Assistant at LATITUDE?
I started working here last May!

What do you enjoy most about working at LATITUDE?
There’s so much I enjoy about working at Latitude! It’s a really welcoming environment and I get to interact with all kinds of different artists. I’ve learned so much from everyone who works here.

Tell us a little bit about your art and projects you are currently focusing on.
I’m a photographer and fibers artist, and I mostly work with film, screen printing, and embroidery. Lately I’ve been trying to find new ways to combine those practices. I’ve also been working on a project with my sister for the past few years, where she sends me illustrations and text that I then alter or combine with my own work through several different processes.

What does “being creative” mean to you?
Being drawn to things I care about. Seeing how things change through process. Failing is also really important for my creativity, because it makes me consider options I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

What is the title of the last book you read?
Lunch Poems by Frank O’Hara

What type of music are you currently listening to?
Fiona Apple, Grimes, Angel Olsen, Solange.

What artists are currently inspiring you?
Louise Bourgeois, Ghada Amer, my sister.

Check out her work on her website.
