Discussion of "Orlando" and Screening: VAGABOND - with B. Ingrid Olson

Join us at LATITUDE this month for two events hosted by our July Artist in Residence, B. Ingrid Olson!

Discussion of "Orlando" by Virginia Woolf
July 26th 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Come prepared to talk about the book "Orlando" by Virginia Woolf. "Orlando" is about the adventures of a poet who changes sex from man to woman and lives for centuries, meeting the key figures of English literary history. Considered a feminist classic, the book has been written about extensively by scholars of women's writing, gender, and transgender studies. So grab your own copy and come prepared to discuss the details of this masterwork! This Event is free to the public.

Screening: VAGABOND (1985)
July 28th 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Agnès Varda pieces together Mona’s story (played by Sandrine Bonnaire who won the Best Actress César) through flashbacks told by those who encountered her (played by a largely nonprofessional cast), producing a splintered portrait of an enigmatic woman. With its sparse, poetic imagery, Vagabond (Sans toit ni loi) is a stunner, and won Varda the top prize at the Venice Film Festival. After the film, there will be a discussion with B. Ingrid Olson on the themes and subject matter talked about in the film.

Date: 1985
Cast: Sandrine Bonnaire, Macha Meril, Stephane Freiss
