AIR Artist Talk: Lida Suchy

Friday, February 23rd, 6 - 8PM | RSVP

Join our February Artist in Residence, Lida Suchy, for a presentation of her ongoing series Portrait of A Village: the People of Kryvorivnya (1992 - Present) and short film Prysia’s Garden (2017). Throughout her residency, Suchy will be focusing on transforming this series of photographs into Piezography prints and begin development of a book. For over 30 years, Suchy has utilized photography as a way to directly confront her understanding of home. During the talk, she will discuss cultural persistence in Eastern and Central Europe and its relationship to her portraiture work.

In addition, there will be a screening of Suchy’s short documentary film Prysia’s Garden (2017), a collaborative project with director Miso Suchy, portrays the quiet life of aging Ukrainian refugee Prysia through the detailed photographic lens of first-generation Ukrainian-American artist Lida Suchy.
