COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Embark on the journey through the intricacies of memory and abstraction in photography with artist Eric Von Haynes! Mementos blur reality into abstraction, capturing fleeting moments and emotions that can linger in our memory. This critique group is designed for photographers and printmakers seeking thoughtful feedback on work that explores the profound connections between imagery and memory. Active listeners are encouraged to enroll!

Participants are expected to submit 1-5 images via Google Forms no later than May 16th at noon CST to be displayed on a projector for group discussion. Feedback per participant will be limited to 8-10 minutes.

This is a sliding scale program. The instructor will receive a base rate or 50% of the profits depending on enrollment and payments, whichever is greater.

Space is limited to 10 participants total so grab your spot early!

Accessibility notes: This workshop has no mobility requirements as it will be a seated presentation. More on building accessibility can be found here and in the video tour of the lab on Vimeo. Please Note: LATITUDE never wants finances to stand in the way of participation in our programs. Please reach out to us to discuss financial assistance.

Refund Policy: For all LATITUDE courses, full payment is required to reserve your spot in the class. If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, LATITUDE can provide a 100% refund for cancellations made 10 days prior to the start date of the course. Cancellations made with less than the 7 day notice will be given a 100% lab credit. Cancellations made within 72 hours of class run will be given a credit for 50% of the purchase price which can be used for any lab purchases, including re-enrollment, in the future. No refund for cancellations made on the start day of the course and will be considered a donation to the space.

Eric Von Haynes

Eric Von Haynes is the operator of Flatlands Press and co-founded Love Fridge Chicago, a mutual aid initiative that supports community fridges. He is also a visiting senior graphic design instructor at the UIC School of Design. In addition, he teaches in the print media department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and serves as the president of the Chicago Printers Guild.


How to Vist our New Space

When arriving at 2003 West Fulton there are two entrances. Please use the 2nd set of doors from Damen Ave. On the box select the "Call" button and find "Latitude." That will call us and we will buzz you in. Upon entering use the ramp or stair to get to the elevator. Latitude is located on the second floor.
