Visual Pyramid After Alberti is a series of infrared photographs of discrete objects illuminated by an Xbox Kinect sensor. The Kinect is an early consumer 3D scanner that emits a cone of invisible infrared light beams to map space and objects in its field. By capturing this invisible light with an infrared camera, the work points out to the literal actualization of Leon Battista Alberti's Renaissance theory of vision, in which sight is understood as a pyramid of rays emanating from the eye toward the world.

assaf evron

Assaf Evron is an artist based in Chicago. His work investigates the nature of vision and the ways in which it is reflected in socially constructed structures, where he applies photographic thinking in various two and three-dimensional media. Through the collapsed relationship between culture and nature, his work opens a conversation around language, experience, and geology in the face of the loss and melancholy inherent to the Anthropocene.
His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally. Evron holds an MA from The Cohn Institute and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where he currently teaches.
