Lawrence Agyei - Bloom
$100.00

Bloom, 2021

AIR 2024

Inkjet print on paper
8 × 10 Inches

This portrait was taken in LA in 2021, still in the midst of COVID. Itching to create, I reached out to Essence, who was in LA working on a few projects, and we decided to get together and shoot. This is one of those images I’ll always remember because there was no real plan—we were simply being free, creating, and enjoying the moment.

This print is available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

AIR 2022

Inkjet print on paper

This image is an adapted composition from a featured project I produced for the spring 2026 issue of ArtReview Magazine, entitled “Second-Story Artifacts.” It accounts for the archaic title attributed to thieves as ‘second-story men’ due to the tactic of burgling via entering the second floor.

This print is available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

Aimée Beaubien - Open Fall (from with Inger)
$100.00

Open Fall (from with Inger), 2018

AIR 2023

Inkjet print on paper
8 × 10 Inches

‘Open Fall’ is part of ‘With Inger’, an open-ended project inspired by the chance discovery of Inger Helene Boasson’s 35mm contact sheets in Iceland. During a month-long residency in Reykjavík, I compulsively re-photographed every image of waterfalls and volcanoes I encountered. Combining my photographs with those of a stranger, I create layered encounters across time, memory, and authorship. In Open Fall, a strip of Inger’s contact sheet drifts across an image of a door, collapsing decades and distances while transforming a threshold into a meeting place between past and present.

This print is available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

Aiken, SC. South Carolina reenactments, particularly for the Revolutionary War and Civil
War, have a long history, with many events held at historic battlefields and sites. Along with
battle reenactments, many residents of South Carolina are members of invitation-only clubs
that commemorate their ancestors who fought on the Confederate side of the Civil War. Here an antebellum ball was hosted by the organizers of the annual Battle of Aiken in Aiken, SC.

This print is available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

The work was produced on Latitude's Overhead Scanner during my residency in 2023 and records a fleeting moment of wet ink interacting with itself before it dries. The inks are made from foraged and cultivated weeds, wildflowers, bark, and insects.

Inkjet print on paper

A solitary, shadowy figure crosses the street toward the camera. I have long been fascinated by the anonymous individuals we encounter in the city each day and the mystery of who they are and where they are going. The silhouetted figure has become a recurring motif in my work, reflecting the anonymity, distance, and fleeting encounters of contemporary urban life.

Jan Brugger - surFace Tension 130
$100.00

surFace Tension 130, 2025

AIR 2025

Inkjet print on paper
8 × 10 Inches

A blue, purple, and pink fabric print of a reaching hand floats partially submerged in clear, rippling water. The water's surface reflects light, revealing green and blue tones over a textured, rocky bottom.

Brugger’s “surface tension” series builds off of “Devices Used to Stay Afloat”, a photographic series of post-apocalyptic sculptures floating on water. They visualize isolation, digital distraction, and material ruins to echo how environments of work and waste shape our emotional landscapes. Paradoxical elements like air, earth, and water are catalysts of life but also hold the power to take it away. What will live on when we’re all gone?

This print is an edition of 100, available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

Clad in White,‍ ‍2019

AIR 2024

Inkjet print on paper

In 2018, I inherited photo albums from my maternal grandparents. Despite not recognizing most of the faces, the depiction of birthdays, rituals, and celebrations felt familiar, as I compared these depictions to my understanding of self and personal worldview. This sparked questions about archival access and how meaning shifts as time separates images from their original context. Clad in White is the first iteration of me addressing these questions, where I began exploring the possibilities of an archive over time, and how it becomes recontextualized through new audiences and materials.

This print is available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

blue milk and sea shells in the smokey driftless” was made on a broken laptop while working at ACRE Residency this summer in Wisconsin. Wildfire smoke from Minnesota and Ontario filled the air during a heatwave mosquito millipede explosion spiral. And we carried the weight of collapse around campus on sandy dirt roads. There is an antique mall in a haunted lodge, but I don’t think they have any blue milk glass to add to my collection of trinkets made by fire and water.

There is an alchemical transmutation in shooting on film; a kind of earth magic that combing it's properties to freeze time. This photograph was made between the anticipated 2012 apocalypse and the activation of CERN's Large Hadron Collider. The world seemed beyond perception.

This image first appeared in my monograph, Luminous Flux, but has never existed as a standalone print. It was created just before my time as a Latitude AIR, during a period when I spent countless hours wandering the streets with a camera, questioning both the act and purpose of photographing. Why roam? Why photograph at all?

After years of holding this image close, it feels only fair to release it back into the world. It is a photograph born from a particular moment, one that could only be made through the alchemy of film, time, and chance.

This print is available only from September 17th - December 7th, 2026. After this date, this image will not be made available in this format again.

A constellation of luminous forms drifts through an indeterminate void, weaving together topographies that feel at once cellular, geological, and cosmic. Through layers of looping, translucent line, the work imagines the universe as an ever evolving field of interconnected forces, where transformation replaces certainty and mysticism emerges through relation rather than revelation. It offers a vision of the cosmos as a living, generative entity in which all forms remain unfinished, entangled, and perpetually becoming.

This work is part of a series of self portraits, I made while on an artist residency at Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France. I was utilizing self portraiture at the time, as a poetic response toward internalized feelings of strangeness and unfamiliarity, alongside the possibilities having the capacity to feel more open, and ecstatic in unknown spaces. a paradox of sorts.

Visual Pyramid After Alberti is a series of infrared photographs of discrete objects illuminated by an Xbox Kinect sensor. The Kinect is an early consumer 3D scanner that emits a cone of invisible infrared light beams to map space and objects in its field. By capturing this invisible light with an infrared camera, the work points out to the literal actualization of Leon Battista Alberti's Renaissance theory of vision, in which sight is understood as a pyramid of rays emanating from the eye toward the world.

This work brings together layers of prints and photographs made during my residency at LATITUDE along with fragments of studio objects, found debris, and iPhone photographs. Photography is a core part of my painting process, serving as a way to collect observations that later inform and frame my work. Here, a broken side mirror found on my walks through Chicago, my current home, layer onto with a mimosa flower from North Carolina, where I was born. Together, these images reflect on transformation, relocation, and the ways memory and place become layered through everyday acts of looking.

Created during my time as a resident artist with LATITUDE at the old 1821 W.Hubbard space, I would collect the dust that was fallen upon the window sills and scanned the material on a flatbed scanner. _IMG: common bond; end of day piece" is a photographic construction examining the labor of picture-making through the structural logic of the "Common Bond" bricklaying pattern (also known as "American Bond"). A floating trowel belonging to my late father anchors the composition, joined by other tools, studio materials, and a reflective tape drawing-in-space in the upper register of the composition — which creates an optical shifting between foreground and background. The "Common Bond" pattern — whose headers prevent structural collapse — becomes both structure and metaphor. This work is dedicated to the bricklayers of my family, and all the builders in this world who make our world livable and hospitable.

Created during the BEPPU PROJECT residency program, transiton2 (2025–26), this work was produced in Beppu, Kyushu, a city known as Japan's first major postwar tourist destination and home to more than 2,800 hot springs. The hot spring water is said to originate from rain that seeped underground 50 years ago, where it was heated by magma before resurfacing. Iwane borrowed a 1970s camera from a now-closed photo studio and photographed Beppu's tourist sites on Neopan SS film manufactured in 1975. The resulting images reveal light that slowly penetrated the film's black paper backing over the course of fifty years.

A found image in a contemporary women's magazine depicts an expansive azalea garden, a familiar emblem of the South deeply entangled with the history of plantation landscapes. While several azalea species are native to the southeastern United States, the sweeping ornamental plantings at historic estates emerged after the Civil War, transforming sites of violence into picturesque destinations. I remove pigment from the printed image by hand, abrading its surface until the photograph begins to falter. Spanning two decades, “Archive as a faithful Companion”, is a personal photographic project, grounded in the interventions with my family photographs. These photographs brought with me from India to the United States when I was 18 years old, include family photographs taken by my father, taken in Indian portrait studios, and my parents’ wedding albums. My move, triggered by the death of both parents, marked my permanent separation from my sister; I came to the United States alone carrying my inheritance packed in a suitcase that weighed 45 kilograms. In this work, I have revisited, rephotographed, recontextualized and re-gendering my archive (every photograph in my archive was made by a man) to create work in the context of migrant narratives and feminist practice.

In the Spotting series, colorful studio-constructed collages were transformed through collaborative digital editing in which assistants removed dust from scanned negatives. Rather than eliminating these traces, I preserved the erasure layers, making visible the labor embedded in photographic production and intentionally blurring authorship. Studio shots' from the series "Weaves Have Become Memories" is a visual journey into the heart of family dynamics and personal history. This series is born from a blend of old family photographs and the intricate details of my mother’s beloved Paithani saree. Paithani sarees, with their gold zari weave, are not just garments but symbols of heritage and tradition. In my work, these weaves become a canvas for exploring the interplay of memory and relationship.

The work is a reminiscence to the artist book ‘echte Dinge / real things’, I created during my residency at Latitude Chicago in 2017. I was researching architectural models and storytelling en miniature at the time. Living in Chicago I was struck how hyperreal many scenes and how massive everyday objects felt. I bought little manufactures objects from the supermarket and scanned my hands holding them. Inspired by a stray find book ‘How to learn German‘ from the 80ies that wildly mix-matched German and English in the sentence, I translated the umbrella term of each collected object as they would sound to a person from the other language area. On the page next to the fake lemon it reads Obst (owe-bst) - fruit (fwrut). With ‘Reverberation (echte Dinge/real things)’, 2026 I once again detach the object from its definition. The scanned image now hovers above a loose cluster of blank sticky notes in an unknown location. I hope to pop round to Chicago again soon for a glass of lemonade.

This work is informed by the Andean concept of Pachakuti, a Quechua term meaning upheaval and renewal, the turning of the world. In Andean cosmology, pacha refers to time, space, and the cosmos, while kuti refers to return, reversal, and transformation. Together they describe cycles where established orders collapse and new forms emerge.

In this series, I extend Pachakuti through archival images of my family and photographs of places I feel connected to. These materials explore how memory, migration, and belonging overlap, creating a dialogue between inherited histories and lived experience.

When I was in Chicago in 2022, I unexpectedly became friends with Carmen Quiles-Calyborn, her husband John, and their son Gilberto. They taught me something I had been searching for as I traveled the world, guided by photography, but what I was truly seeking was to perceive the bonds of affection between people, often built regardless of the language we speak. They taught me the ancestral meaning of hospitality.

So, we created a portrait in which the mystery of Puerto Rican celebrations emerges in front of the house as an invitation and, at the same time, a reminder that magic never ceases to inhabit our lives.

This image was shot when I was artist in residence in the fall of 2025 at the College of Dupage. My research into the college archives and conversations with various folks on campus led me toward a broad view of the landscape that the college is situated in, including an extensive prairie and wetland preserve, which is often juxtaposed with some very splashy, non-native landscaping that a previous president of the college had installed around fifteen years ago. I shot several photographs in these different “nature” areas with different color gels over my flash to see how the color projection interacts with or is absorbed by the plant species in the frame (also relative to their distance from the flash).

Groundskeeper' was made in 2021 in the Victoria Botanical Gardens in Mahe, Seychelles. The portrait has been a favorite of mine for years and yet I've never found a home for it within one of my projects. I came upon the groundskeeper while visiting in 2021. There was something in the way he leaned on a nearby granite rock - the kind the islands were borne of centuries ago - while taking a call on a modern device. The green tone of his uniform perfectly matching the verdant background such that he almost disappeared into the foliage. I motioned to my camera in a gesture that asked if I could make his portrait and he nodded just enough to signal, 'yes,' - never shifting his body or changing his facial expression. I made the portrait, and continued on in the gardens.

Get Well Soon was made in 2016 as I left Chicago for Los Angeles after three months in the hospital from complications of chronic, life-threatening autoimmune illness. In the image, a cheerful “get well” balloon is tethered to a brick at the edge of frozen water. Its promise of recovery is held down by cold stillness. As a queer, trans artist, organizer, and writer living with chronic illness, I consider how capitalism measures bodily worth through productivity and renders sick bodies disposable. The work resists recovery as demand, asking what forms of endurance emerge when cure is not guaranteed.

This not yet titled work from the "Leveling" series documents a large-scale housing development in the western suburbs of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Leveling a series of plateaus into the foothills of the mountainous desert landscape, this massive new housing community has reshaped over 37,000 acres of land to build nearly 100,000 new homes in the span of a few short years. Noting the precarity of water in the Sonoran desert, this project questions the conditions under which settlements occur and asks, who gets to make home in the desert?

An estimated 400,000 protesters took to the streets of Chicago Monday May 1, 2006 to show their support for the 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Hundreds of thousands of immigrants and their supporters took part in marches across the country, part of the nationwide boycott, "Day Without an Immigrant." Chicago's march was a mostly peaceful and united message to the U.S. Congress which is debating the status of illegal immigrants.

This piece Parchas (Passionfruit) is part of a larger photographic series entitled Frutas by the Sea. This project reflects on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and specifically Spanish colonialism within the Carribean, South America and throughout other equatorial lands with the travel of seeds. Thus, colonialism began the monopoly of food imperialism. This project arranges fruits/frutas on a canvas backdrop as a visual of this imperialism. These images are scaled, the original are scroll size (1.5ft x 13ft.) signifying the ties to crests of royalty and colonialist histories.
