COURSE DESCRIPTION:

​Join us for an introductory tutoring session on Imacon Scanning. This is an excellent scanning tool to achieve high-quality scans of your black and white, color, and positive film! This prerequisite unlocks DIY use of the Imacon Scanner, which is $25 per session (not including Latitude day fee of $15).

During our time together, we will cover:

✰ Using the Film Holders to accommodate various film formats, including 35mm, 120, and 4x5. ​

✰ Setting appropriate settings to ensure optimal exposure and focus​

✰ Developing a digital workflow for your files,​

You will leave this session with high resolution scans!

Preparing for Class

✰ Please bring at least three negatives to be scanned either 35mm, 120 or 4×5

✰ A USB drive, external hard drive to bring your files home with you

This session will be approximately an hour of 1:1 tutoring, you will then have the scanner for an additional two hours to continue scanning and ask any further questions.

This one-on-one session will be scheduled individually. After booking we will follow up with you via e-mail with dates and times within your provided availability.

Can’t make our monthly group workshop? Sign up for an Intro To Print individual tutoring session.

This session is designed to help you feel confident printing independently and certify you on the Canon 2600, 4000 and our Epson 4900, 9000 printers at LATITUDE. 

• During our time together, we will cover:
  ✰ Paper types (matte, glossy, and specialty options) and how to choose between them
  ✰ How to make an appointment through our online booking system
  ✰ How to track and calculate your printing costs
  ✰ Printer settings and file prep basics, including resizing and adding borders
  ✰ Trimming techniques

  ✰ Packaging best practices for safely transporting your prints
  
  You will leave with two ~ 8x10 prints

  ✰ Please bring two high-resolution images roughly sized to 8x10 inches at 300 dpi.

  ✰ Bring your files on a USB drive, external hard drive, or be prepared to AirDrop if you’re using an iPhone.

This session will be approximately an hour and a half of 1:1 tutoring, you will then have the workstation and printer for an additional hour and a half to continue printing. Any prints beyond the (2) 8×10’s will be charged at our regular DIY fee.

Piezography is a highly customizable black & white inkjet printmaking system that uses multiple shades of gray ink. With the use of dedicated software and paper profiling technology, you can create prints with incredible tonal breadth and exceedingly rich detail - combining the deep blacks of a silver print and the subtle grays and highlights of a platinum print. No other printer or ink manufacturer can reach the same quality in monochrome.

With the release of Piezography Pro, there has never been a better time to dive into this system. The innovations of the software include the darkest blacks on earth, a gloss optimizer that seals and enhances the print, and the ability to create signature toned looks by blending warm and cool gray inks. The software also allows the user to work with double the image resolution of a normal Epson printer and gives unprecedented access to tools for calibrating their unique printer and paper combinations.

Upon completion, you will be fully certified to use LATITUDE’s Piezography Pro printer as a DIY user. We’re one of the only community-access labs in the world to offer this!

During this three hour session we will cover:

• Pre-print checklist (printer, files, paper, etc.)

• Using the printmaking software, Print Tool

• Workflow for different paper substrates

• How to tone and split-tone your images

• Best practices and editing for Piezography

Please note that you must have prior printing experience to take this course. If you’ve never printed before, you are required to take our Intro to Printing course before you can attend this workshop.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

​Join us for an introductory tutoring session on Overhead Film Scanning. This is an excellent scanning tool to achieve high-quality scans of your black and white, color, and positive film! This prerequisite unlocks DIY use of the Overhead Film Scanner, which is $25 per session (not including Latitude day fee of $15).

During our time together, we will cover:

✰ Adjusting the scanning workstation to accommodate various film formats, including 35mm, 120, and 4x5. ​

✰ Setting appropriate camera settings to ensure optimal exposure.​

✰ Developing a digital workflow utilizing Sony's Remote and Capture applications.​

✰ Manage and invert .TIF files using Negative Lab Pro

You will leave this session with high resolution digital scans!

Preparing for Class

✰ Please bring at least three negatives to be scanned either 35mm, 120 or 4×5

✰ A USB drive, external hard drive to bring your films home with you

This session will be approximately an hour of 1:1 tutoring, you will then have the scanner for an additional two hours to continue scanning and ask any further questions.

This tutoring session is required for DIY users who are certified to print at the lab and who want to experiment with printing on fabric using our Canon-Pro 4000 printer.  

During our time together, we will cover:

✰ This tutoring session covers the basics of printing on the Canon printer, how to ensure that fabric is loaded correctly, and print on Jacquard inkjet coated fabrics.

✰ Best practices for trimming and packaging fabric pieces.

✰ File prep basics for test strips

Preparing for Class

✰ Included in the price of the session is a 10” x 42” test strip. Please bring an image or multiple images we can use to create a test strip.

✰ Bring your files on a USB drive, external hard drive, or be prepared to AirDrop if you’re using an iPhone.

This session will be approximately an hour of 1:1 tutoring, you will then have the workstation and printer for an additional two hours to continue printing. Any prints beyond the 10” x 42” test strip will be charged at our regular DIY fee.

This one-on-one session will be scheduled individually. After booking we will follow up with you via e-mail with dates and times within your provided availability.

Inkjet Image Transfer introduces you to techniques needed to properly transfer images to both porous and nonporous materials. Certification for printing at LATITUDE is required to take this class. Authorization can be achieved by taking an Intro to Print.

During our time together, we will cover:

✰ How to prepare the chemistry and your substrates for inkjet transfer

✰  Physically applying two images onto user supplied materials

✰ Printing your images on Inkaid transfer paper

You will leave this session with two 8” x 10” transfers on the objects you provide!

Preparing for Class

✰ Please bring two high-resolution images roughly sized to 8x10 inches at 300 dpi.

✰ Please bring two materials 8”x10” or larger to transfer your images onto. We recommend flat non-porous surfaces for the best results but encourage you to experiment!

This session be approximately 2.5 hours of 1:1 tutoring time.
