Created during my time as a resident artist with LATITUDE at the old 1821 W.Hubbard space, I would collect the dust that was fallen upon the window sills and scanned the material on a flatbed scanner. Creating a demarcation of time with the ironic infiltration of a material so keen on being kept away from photography inevitably making its way into the studio.

Daniel Hojancki

Through experimental approaches to the apparatus of the camera and alternative printing techniques, I investigate the quietness of being an observer within the world. Creating work that explores materiality of the image through emotional responses to the medium of photography.

Thoughts on the lab

Provided wonderful time to experiment with mingling my love of tactile analog approaches to the digital output. The LATITUDE studio provided opportunities for workshops with SAIC students and challenged my public speaking with a closing artist talk event. Looking back, my time was fruitful in organizing and editing series of works that I still am building upon today.
