I use collage, painting, and photographic processes to create imagery that evokes multiplicity, hallucination, and camouflage. Every image seeks to imply the presence of something coalescing while it is simultaneously collapsing. I’m interested in how the basic mechanics of visual perception operate in our day to day lives as a highly structured hallucination, and my work tries to highlight this fact.
Thoughts on the lab
I learned so much about some niche aspects of printing that was invaluable for various aspects of my work. It was also illuminating to be able to experiment with different substrates to understand how certain images of mine can come to life in specific ways related to the material presence of the paper. I make it back to Latitude whenever I can! It's always an incredibly welcoming, supportive and fun environment to be in while I'm printing out new work.
