B. Ingrid Olson
In her omnidimensional work, Chicago-based artist B. Ingrid Olson (born 1987, Denver) engages the reciprocities between photography, sculpture, and architecture. Poetically testing the capacities of the human body in relation to architectural conditions, she calls attention to the ways that gender and power are implicated in the physical and psychological structuring of space.
Thoughts on the lab
Having never taken a photography class in college or prior, Latitude has been a consistent resource for me to learn new technical skills and working methods. As a resident in 2016, I used the drum scanner to make my work for my 2017 exhibition at the Renaissance Society. I've continued since then to use the space to make my work, and most importantly to experiment. In addition, I've made many close friends through the incredible community of aritsts at Latitude.
