Jackie Furtado's work distills navigation into form. Through sculpture and lens-based media, she investigates material traces and the marks left upon materials, using them to question the purpose, promise, and potential of domestic and societal infrastructures. Drawing from the familiar textures of her upbringing and present-day experiences - transient, religious, and rural environments - Furtado examines how spaces and objects accumulate meaning, exert influence, and reveal lived experience.
